Every fountain pen and nib unit we sell are carefully examined, filled with ink (so we can analyze its feed and flow), tested on quality paper, and then optimized for optimal sensation and experience before it is cleaned and shipped. Only very rare or limited edition pens aren’t fully tested until you ask us to when you buy it.
We take care to make sure that the fountain pens you buy from us will work great out of the box, like it’s supposed to.
What Retail Stores Can’t Offer
Most retailers, whether online or bricks and mortar, sell fountain pens straight from the manufacturer, without any examination or testing. Even some of the best-known fountain pen manufacturers are known to sometimes (or even frequently) ship pens with poorly aligned nibs, scratchy tipping points, and other annoying but correctable flaws. Small defects like these can make what would otherwise be a wonderful everyday writing instrument into nothing more than a costly desk ornament. We take the risk out of ordering online, by testing the nibs and feeds before making the pen available for sale (we do not test very rare or limited edition nibs unless you ask for it as described on the individual pen description – and it will be done free of charge). We take the risk for you to receive a nib which needs work, because we can do the work required for you to enjoy the pen when we sell it to you.
How can we Offer such Low Prices
We are able to give you lower prices than most sellers because we do not have a store front, we keep it small, and have great business relationships with foreign retailers. We even offer prices that can’t be found on auction sites unless you’re extremely lucky enough to win an auction at a low price (highly unlikely), or you’re buying a used pen (with micro scratches and other “user grade” conditions). Our pens are all in perfect condition, new in box, unless they’re vintage or indicated otherwise. Our testing and tuning process also reduces the number of returns to practically zero, which keep the costs lower for everyone.
Back in the Box
Once the testing and optimization process is completed, your pen is thoroughly cleaned, dried, and returned to its original packaging, indistinguishable from any other brand new pen. But if you are a collector who wants limited edition pens that have never been inked, we are happy to waive this free service for you. The pens do not leave the desk they are tested on, so we they can be in perfect condition for your enjoyment.
Eliminating the Guesswork from Pen Purchases
Taking advantage of our set-up and optimization services helps eliminate the guesswork and uncertainty from your online fountain pen purchases. Our philosophy is that every fountain pen should write perfectly out of the box, no matter what is its cash value. We’re the buffer and quality control that any fountain pen manufacturer should have.
